Orienteering Course-
Your team will navigate with a compass through the dense foliage of a wilderness area. The terrain varies from flat ground to steep hills with creeks and wildlife. With the use of your compass, your team must maneuver to four or five different check points based on the coordinates provided to you the day of the race. In this discipline, your team must check-in at each check point station. A topographical map will be handed out at the pre-race meeting. The orienteering course is confidential. Only the race officials will know the location of the check points during this section of the race. Each checkpoint will be confirmed by GPS.

Orienteering Course Time Allotment-
Each team must have completed the Orienteering Course by 1:00pm. Any team that does not finish within the designated time may be transferred to the next discipline of the race and will forfeit their opportunity to qualify as a contender for any prizes. The Race Committee has the right to change the cutoff times. Race participants should check this website periodically to receive the latest information on the race.

Transition area from Orienteering Course to Next Discipline-
Your support team (no more than two) may hand you any new equipment, change of clothes, water, food, or other items pertinent to allow you to complete the next discipline in accordance with general or specific race guidelines. Any garbage, or other items discarded by your team within the transition area must be quickly picked-up by your support team members.
